For all the Springbok fans around the world, Sunday morning marked a day to be forgotten. This only will be forgotten after they hurled abuse at the ref and threw themselves into a deep pit of self loathing depression.

I am a Springbok fan and a ref hater of note. I have hurled abuse at Bryce for his attempts at reffing a rugby match. I know he missed a few things, in fact, he missed a lot! Having said that, I have to, on this occasion, refer my fellow fans to the facts on this one.

“The Boks had to make just 53 tackles against the Wallabies’ 147, they stole five Wallaby lineout balls without conceding one themselves, they missed 11 tackles to the Wallabies’ 13, they enjoyed 56% of the possession and 76% of the territory.” Supersport.com

Pat Lambie missed a penalty. Morne Steyn missed kicks. Why not crucify them as you doing Bryce Lawrence. Given the above statistics, we should have crushed them by an embarrassing margin. So what most Springbok fans are doing is crucifying the ref because they can instead of who is to blame. Personally, I think it has gone to far with people blaming Bryce for the Blackberry server crash around the country. Twitter hashtag trend on Monday reading #blamebrycemoday got out of control too.

Blame the ref – go for it. Take your frustration out on anything and everything but keep it real people! Can you honestly blame Bryce Lawrence 100% for the lost game? Thought so!

We are lucky enough to hold season tickets and, barring any major event, are always at the stadium for any games played there. Therefore, every game that we sit at, we sit in the same seats. We have had those seats for as long as I can remember. (more…)
